Biossance SQUALANE + PROBIOTIC GEL MOISTURIZER Review

SQUALANE + PROBIOTIC GEL MOISTURIZER REVIEW

A male friend recently gifted me the Biossance moisturizer with squalane and probiotic technology for my birthday.

According to the Sephora salesman, the Biossance squalane gel moisturizer helps reduce redness with red seaweed and ginger extract.

The Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer also reduces the appearance of pores while moisturizing skin.

My guy friend probably walked into Sephora and looked clueless, so the Sephora employee jumped on the opportunity to sell a $50+ moisturizer.

The friendly salesman did a quick demo: he put the Biossance moisturizer, on one hand, to show how it reduced redness (it worked!), and that’s how I ended up with the Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer.

Below is what I liked and didn't love about the Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer by Biossance.

What is Squalane?

The Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer includes squalane. But what is squalane anyway?

Squalane is a natural organic compound, and it's produced by plants and animals. Squalane is often used in cosmetics and skincare products for its moisturizing properties. It's lightweight, non-greasy, and easily absorbed by the skin, making it a popular ingredient in moisturizers, serums, and other skincare formulations. Squalane can help improve skin hydration, maintain its elasticity, and protect against moisture loss. (So it's a good thing to have in your skincare products!)

What I liked about the Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer

Here is what I liked about the gel moisturizer by Biossance.

1. Smooths skin

This is the moisturizer for you if your hands are dry and scaly looking. Apply, and you will notice your hands are smoother, less blotchy, and more youthful-looking.

2. Reduces redness on hands

The test is simple. Apply the moisturizer to the top of one hand, and you will instantly see the redness decrease. It does “leave skin brighter and more balanced looking.”

3. Non-greasy

The Biossance gel moisturizer is almost like water, so it doesn’t have the greasy, thick feeling that other moisturizers do.

4. No strong scent

If you hate products with a strong scent, the Biossnace Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer is for you.

This gel moisturizer has very minimal fragrance.

What I didn’t like about the Gel Moisturizer with Squalane by Biossance

Here's what I didn't love about the gel moisturizer at Sephora.

1. Doesn’t absorb easily

This isn’t my favorite facial moisturizer. It doesn’t set into my skin and feels like watered-down Aloe Vera gel. Too watery for me.

2. Doesn’t reduce redness on face

Despite wearing sunblock daily, my base skin color is relatively red. Other primers reduce redness (especially the Make Up Forever Step 1 Correcting Primer), and this one didn’t do anything for me.

My Takeaway: Biossance moisturizer isn’t worth it for the money

I want my moisturizers to either 1) reduce redness, 2) moisturize my skin, 3) fill in imperfections, like pores, or 3) have wrinkle-reducing agents.

The Biossance moisturizer didn’t do any of the above for me.

However, just because I didn’t love the Squalane + Probiotic Balancing Gel Moisturizer doesn’t mean that you won’t.

Here’s some additional information that may change your mind.

This gel moisturizer may not be great for me, but it may be perfect for you.

Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer Reviews by Women

Here are what other online reviews say about the Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer. Overall, this gel moisturizer gets raving reviews online. Many women love the Biossance gel moisturizer.

The average rating on Sephora is 4.5/5.0 stars, so it's a good gel moisturizer overall.

What Women Like About Biossnace Squalane Gel Moisturizer

1. Moisturizes well

Women love the moisturizing effects of the squalane, which acts as an emollient to minimize moisture loss.

2. Lightweight

If you are seeking a lightweight moisturizer, this is it.

3. Plant-Derived Squalane

Squalene (with an “e”) is a sebum, which is a light yellow, oily substance secreted by glands in your skin that is also found in shark livers. But don’t worry, Biossance derives the squalane (with an “a”) in its products from plants.

4. Non-toxic and paraben free

Biossance has a blacklist of more than 2,000+ ingredients that it does not use in its products.

The Biossance gel moisturizer kind of reminds me of KOOPE, which is an awesome skincare brand that also doesn't use toxic ingredients!

5. Environment-conscious packaging

Biossance is headquartered in Emeryville, CA. Got to love Northern California; their sustainable packaging is made from sugar cane paper.
