How to Get Rid of Acne
Acne is a common problem for teenage girls. I personally started getting acne when I was 11 or 12 years old, and I still have acne as an adult in my 30s!
Fortunately, it can be pretty easy to control and get rid of acne as a teen (and an adult).
If you know the right skincare products to use, you can get rid of acne in a week – or at least substantially decrease the size of your pimples and blackheads.
This beauty and skincare guide covers how to get rid of acne for teen girls.

How to Get Rid of Acne for Teenage Girls in 5 Steps
Follow these easy steps to get rid of acne for teenage girls. You'll be on your way to clear skin!
1. Wash your Face Every Morning with Soap and a New Washcloth
Don’t reuse old washcloths! Washcloths collect germs and can make your face WORSE.
Grab a fresh one every day and wash your face in the AM with a gentle cleanser.
I personally LOVE the Dr. Bronner’s face wash. It smells great and it won’t irritate sensitive skin.
If you want something stronger, try the Neutrogena face wash with the grapefruit scent. It also smells great!
2. Clean Your Face in the Afternoon as Needed
If your face gets oily in the afternoon, use a quick acne treatment pad to clean your skin.
The OXY pads or the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Maximum Strength Acne Face pads are both really good.
Throw the face pads in your locker or backpack and use before going to sports practice or after school events.
These acne treatment pads for teens (and adults!) will remove any foundations or CC creams that you have on your face, but that’s okay. It’s good to let your skin breathe sometimes!
3. Wash Your Face at Night with a Scrub at Night
You need a skincare product with salicylic acid if you want to get rid of acne and pimples.
Salicylic acid is the KEY active ingredient needed to get rid of acne.
The St. Ives Acne Control Face Scrub is a great skincare scrub to use for teens. Plus, it’s cheap!
I personally use the St. Ives Acne Control Face Scrub every night in the shower. The scrub also helps to get rid of dirt that’s clogging your pores.
If you are only going to use one skincare product for clear skin, go with the St. Ives Acne Control Face Scrub. It's an absolute must!
4. Use a Face Toner at Night
Face toner with 0.5% salicylic acid will help keep blackheads and acne away.
Unlike the skincare products above that have 2.0% salicylic acid, the Clean & Clear toner has 0.5% salicylic acid – so it’s less likely to dry out your skin.
Simply apply the face toner to a cotton pad and wipe your face with it. This also helps to ensure that any makeup is removed from your skin at night.
If your skin dries out easily, just use Dr. Bronner's soap (step #1) and the Clean & Clear toner at night for treating acne.
5. Apply Face Cream at Night
A night cream works wonders and is great to use through your teenage and adult years.
The Boots No. 7 lift and luminate night cream is great.
Treatment for Acne at Night
If you have bad acne, use an acne treatment with Salicylic Acid at night. The Clean & Clear moisturizer with salicylic acid is a good one.
Note: The salicylic acid may stain your pajamas or sheets, so use with caution!
How to Get Rid of Acne Fast…Even Overnight!
Have a big red pimple that you just hate!
Don’t worry…there is a trick to get rid of acne fast. And it’s free.
Simply get your washcloth HOT by running it under hot water. Then, apply the washcloth to your forehead for 10-15 seconds. Repeat for 1-2 more times.
The hot water brings blood to your pimple and makes it shrink in size….really!
Afterward, apply a simple concealer to cover up the red spot. I personally swear by the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer. I use the 110 Fair color.
How to Get Rid of Blackheads for Teens
Do you have tiny black dots on your nose, and maybe your forehead and chin too?
Don’t worry. It’s common! Those are blackheads.
Some people squeeze blackheads out, but that’s not the ideal solution. You can irritate your skin that way!
Instead, just use a good nose strip to get rid of blackheads.
I personally love the Biore ULTA DEEP Cleaning nose strips. Use them 1-2 times per week.
Simply get your nose wet with water and apply a Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing nose strip on your nose. Let the strip dry (wait 10-15 minutes) and peel off quickly.
Afterward, clean your face with an Oxy wipe to help “shrink” the pores and help prevent the blackheads from coming back.
