Have you ever struggled with the night-time makeup battle? You want to remove your makeup quickly and go to bed (I get it!!), but you've probably heard that makeup wipes are so bad (especially for the environment).

Can't removing makeup at night be quick and easy?

In this beauty guide, I'll cover how to remove makeup without wipes. And guess what!? It is easy!

Do You Really Have to Remove Makeup at Night?

Before jumping into how to remove makeup without wipes. Here's a question: Do you actually need to remove your makeup at night? Is it really a big deal to sleep with your makeup on? In short: yes!

Here's why it is so, so bad to sleep with your makeup on:

1. It Clogs Pores

Makeup left on overnight clogs pores, inviting acne and breakouts to the party. It traps dirt, oil, and pollutants, pushing them deeper into your skin while you're catching Z's.

2. You Want Your Skin to Breath!

Sleeping with makeup obstructs your skin's nighttime renewal process. This can lead to a dull complexion and uneven texture, making you miss out on that natural morning glow.

3. You'll Look Older!

Leaving makeup overnight mixes with your skin's oils and leads to oxidative stress. This speeds up the aging process by breaking down collagen and elastin, the duo responsible for youthful, elastic skin.

4. Racoon Eyes

Ignoring eye makeup removal risks irritation and puffiness. The skin around your eyes is sensitive – sleeping with mascara or liner on might just lead to unwanted eye drama.

The Bottom Line: Wash Before You Crash! To prevent clogged pores, lackluster skin, premature aging, and eye woes, it's a no-brainer – cleanse your face before hitting the pillow. Your skin will thank you with a healthier, happier glow.

How to Remove Makeup at Night without Wipes

My favorite way to remove makeup at night is with Dr. Bronner's Soap and jojoba oil. However, there are a few products that make it super quick and easy to remove makeup at night. Below are my top picks.

1. Use Neutrogena Makeup Remover (Affordable and Easy!)

The Neutrogena makeup remover is under $10 and gets the job done. Simply apply it onto your face with your bad and see your makeup disappear.

2. Try Estee Lauder Take It Away Makeup Remover Lotion (You'll Love It!)

It's expensive, but I absolutely love the Estee Lauder Take It Away makeup remover. It's my #1 recommendation for removing makeup at night without wipes. It gets the job done. Simple as that!

3. Use an Oil Cleanser (Great for Sensitive Skin!)

An oil cleanser is a quick and easy way to remove makeup at night. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil on Amazon gets raving reviews and is GREAT at removing waterproof mascara too! Super great for sensitive skin as well.

4. Give Micellar Water a Go

Micellar water is made up of tiny oil molecules (called micelles) suspended in water. The micelles act like little magnets to attract and lift away dirt and makeup. If you want a good micellar water, check out Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water on Amazon.

5. Try a Cream Cleanser (Cleansing Balm)

Want to use a makeup remover that REALLY gets rid of makeup? And by that, I mean like drag queen makeup? If yes, a balm cleanser (kind of like petroleum jelly) may be the solution for you. You'll LOVE the Albone Face Moisturizer and Makeup Remover if you have really thick makeup that's hard to take off.

6. Good Old Soap and Water (Dr. Bronner's!)

Lastly, you can always remove makeup with soap and water. I love the Dr. Bronner's soap for removing makeup at night. Continue reading to learn how to use it correctly to quickly and easily remove makeup!

How to Remove Makeup Without Makeup Wipes Naturally

Want to use gentle cleansers to remove makeup at night? If so, you need to use Dr. Bronner's soap and jojoba oil.

Below are instructions for how to easily remove makeup at night with these two products.

Step 1: Wash Face with Dr. Bronner’s Soap to Remove Foundation

I used to use special face washes, and then a Pure Barre instructor turned me onto Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap. Her skin was GLOWING, and I asked for her insider beauty tip. She said that her secret was Dr. Bronner’s soap and Botox.

You can get a HUGE bottle (32 ounces!) of Dr. Bronner’s soap online from Amazon here.

Squeeze a small amount onto a washcloth and wash your face. It’s gentle on your skin, and the peppermint scent is so refreshing!

Step 2: Remove Mascara and Lipstick with Jojoba Oil

Step #2: Remove Mascara and Lipstick with Jojoba Oil

Step two is to remove mascara and lipstick. I use Revlon ColorStay lipstick, and that lipstick definitely STAYS on.

Add 100% pure jojoba oil to a cotton pad and use it on your eyelids and eyelashes to remove mascara. Jojoba oil even works well on waterproof mascara!

Then remove any lipstick.

I buy Jojoba oil from Trader Joe’s. You can also find Jojoba oil on Amazon. (Just make sure the bottle says “100% Pure Jojoba Oil.”)

Step 3: Apply an Anti-Aging Cream After Removing Makeup

  1. I keep hearing that make-up wipes are so bad for you, but they are just so easy! However, I finally kicked the habit. I love micelar water, but I’ve also been using one of the amazon/drug store make-up removing cloths. I was skeptical at first, not thinking they would get the real nitty gritty, but they work so well! I use a natural soap to remove the makeup after washing, but I love how squeaky clean the make my face feel!
