Choosing a Hair Dye Color to Go from Blonde to Light Brown Hair
Many women end up unhappy with their hair color after using hair dye at home. That's why I recommend the John Frieda color treatment instead of a hair dye!
If you are a blonde and insist on using a hair dye at home, I’d strongly recommend you use a slightly darker shade of blonde hair dye vs. a brown hair dye.
You can always go even darker later.
Going just slightly darker will prevent you from regretting your decision!
How to go from blonde to brown hair at Home (DIY)
It's easy to go from blonde to brown hair at home. There are two main ways. 1) use John Frieda Brilliant Brunette treatment or 2) use a temporary (or permanent) hair dye.
1. Use John Frieda Brilliant Brunette to Go from Blonde to Light Brown Hair
There’s no need for you to buy a fancy hair dye to go from blonde to brown hair, but you can!
Simply buy the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette treatment. It lasts 2-3 weeks and is super easy to use (instructions below).

Instructions for John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Treatment to from Blonde to Go Light Brown
To use the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Color Deepening Treatment to go brunette, simply apply to slightly wet hair, leave on for 5-10 minutes, and then rinse out.
Check out this how-to video by Very Easy Makeup on YouTube for detailed step-by-step instructions.
You can also leave the treatment on for up to 15 minutes. I’ve done that myself!
2. Use a Semi-Permanent Hair Dye (At Home DIY for Blonde to Brown)
If you want a brown hair dye that will last longer, try a semi-permanent hair dye.
A semi-permanent hair dye will last about a month if you shampoo your hair every other day.
Temporary hair dyes are also easier on your hair.
The Clairol Natural Instincts semi-permanent hair dyes get pretty good reviews. The “8G Medium Golden Blonde – Sunflower” color seems to be liked the most among women.
