Light Blonde to Medium Blonde Hair with Highlights: Before and After Pictures
But recently I felt like going from light blonde to dark blonde, or bronde. I also wanted highlights/lowlights versus just one solid color.
So I went to go see my good friend Attallah at Twisted Elegance Salon in Atlanta, GA for some pretty lowlights and toner.
Here’s the before and after results to get pretty medium blonde hair with highlights.
Light Blonde Hair – Before Pictures
These are the BEFORE pictures, before Attallah gave me pretty medium blonde hair with highlights.
I actually achieved this color blonde with…Sun In! Yes, you heard me right. Sun In does the trick if you have dark strawberry blonde hair.

Here are the after pictures of going from light blonde to dark blonde with lowlights and Redken toner. I love it when my hair is medium blonde with highlights.
How to Go from Light Blonde to Medium Blonde with Highlights
This time around I went to a salon to go from light blonde to medium blonde with highlights.
Specifically, I went to see my friend Attallah at Twisted Elegance Salon in Atlanta, GA.
1. Apply Lowlights
To get this dark blonde hair color, Attallah mixed PRAVANA 7N (with a little bit of 6N) for the lowlights.
2. Apply Toner for Medium Blonde Hair
Then, she toned ALL of my hair with Redken 09NB Irish Creme blonde toner.

If you have blonde hair or medium blonde hair, there are a few go-to products that you need to maintain healthy hair that is strong and not brassy!

An Easy DIY Way to Get Medium Blonde Hair at Home
If you have naturally blonde or dark brown hair you can go blonde at home with Sun In.
It’s SUPER cheap and that’s how I got the light blonde hair/medium blonde hair with highlights in the “before pictures” in this post.
Is Light Blonde, Medium Blonde, or Dark Blonde/Bronde Hair Better?
Not sure which color is best for you?
In my opinion, blonde hair is more fun, but a medium blonde with highlights or a darker blonde/bronde makes light blue and green eyes “pop” more.
I also look less washed out when my hair is darker.
